Det er også hurtigbåtforbindelse til de andre plassene i kommunen. Bygda har dagligvarebutikk, men ingen skole. Det bor ca. 30 fastboende på plassen. 
Sør-Tverrfjord is a small village in western Loppa with road connection to Sandland, and ferry connection to Bergsfjord and Øksfjord. The ferry to Øksfjord takes approx. 2 hours. There is also a speedboat connection to the other places in the municipality. Bygda has a grocery store, but no school. It lives approx. 30 residents on the spot.

I Sør-Tverrfjord var det tidligere både oppdrettsanlegg for laks, slakteri og rekeproduksjon. Nå er Mainstream Norway i gang med lakseoppdrett i området. Det er ca. 10
min. med hurtigbåt og 20 min. med ferge til Bergsfjord.
Naturen er vill og vakker med bratte fjell, dype daler, fiskevann, elver, jaktmuligheter og muligheter for brevandring, samt fjord- og havfiske.
